Equigerminal S.A. is opening a research position for an MSc or PhD holder to carry out R&D activities integrating and analyzing molecular and multi-source data in a One Health context. Target species include dogs, cats, and horses.
Extraction and quantification of total RNA, microRNA, viral RNA, and genomic DNA
Gene expression analysis using RT-qPCR
Molecular biomarker analysis relevant to respiratory health
Genotyping (SNP-based) and next-generation sequencing (preferably Oxford Nanopore)
Integration and structuring of molecular, clinical, and environmental data
Active participation in the co-development of robust machine learning algorithms for predictive modeling
Education Level: MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
Skills/Qualifications:
Proven experience in molecular biology techniques (RNA/DNA extraction, qPCR, genotyping, NGS)
Experience in data analysis and integration of molecular, clinical, and environmental datasets
Proficiency with bioinformatics tools and developing machine learning models
Fluency in Portuguese and English (both spoken and written)
Strong communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Languages Required:

Compensation according to the FCT 2025 fellowship table, adjusted to MSc or PhD level

Equigerminal S.A. is opening a research position for an MSc or PhD graduate to carry out R&D activities on the evolution, completion, and optimization of the existing MVP technology platform (AImals). The goal is to ensure the platform is robust, secure, and ready for operational deployment within a One Health context, supporting the implementation of Digital Animal Twin Sentinels — predictive models integrating multi-origin data for animal health monitoring.
Develop and expand the platform’s data infrastructure for secure, scalable, interoperable storage and processing of heterogeneous data
Build data pipelines to integrate clinical, molecular, genetic, laboratory, social, and environmental datasets
Design and implement backend services and APIs for secure communication between databases and user interfaces
Develop interactive web dashboards, including longitudinal dashboards, for real-time and temporal health data visualization
Integrate multimedia elements (interactive charts, animations, images, videos) into web applications to enhance data interpretation
Collaborate on the development of taxonomies and ontologies for data standardization and semantic interoperability
Implement data privacy, authentication, and authorization protocols in compliance with GDPR
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to translate research and technical requirements into effective solutions
Support the creation of Digital Animal Twin Sentinels by integrating multi-source data into predictive digital models
Education Level: MSc or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Web Development, or related areas.
Skills/Qualifications:
Proven experience in full-stack web development, including backend and frontend design for scientific or data-intensive platforms
Strong skills in implementing RESTful APIs for secure database-UI connections
Experience building interactive dashboards, including longitudinal dashboards
Ability to integrate multimedia elements into web applications
Knowledge of data standardization and interoperability practices (taxonomies, ontologies, standards like FHIR, JSON)
Understanding of data privacy, GDPR compliance, and implementation of authentication and authorization protocols
Proficiency in backend technologies, preferably Python (FastAPI or Flask), and frontend frameworks aligned with the platform stack (e.g., React)
Experience with relational SQL databases hosted in the cloud
Experience with data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache Airflow) and version control systems (Git)
Fluency in Portuguese and English (both spoken and written)
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
